WATER” stands for West Africa: Appropriate Technology, Education, and Reciprocity. WATER for Africa is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that was founded in 2011. The mission of WATER is to support initiatives that address health issues in West African countries that stem from environmental and social conditions. Priority is given to projects that address water-related health issues, particularly in the country of Benin. Funds raised by WATER enable the purchase of supplies to support educational and technological partner projects, provide travel support for students and faculty to work on mission-related projects, provide support to individuals from Benin and other partner organizations to visit partner institutions in the US, and provide support for educational programs in the US that create awareness of the link between social and environmental conditions in Africa and health conditions. We are funded solely by individual contributions and monies raised through fund-raising activities. We believe that little actions on the part of many can add up to real differences, and welcome donations in all amounts.
